Homemade Fudgesicles Ingredients:
This homemade fudgesicle recipe is great because it's made with real ingredients that are guaranteed to support a healthy lifestyle and make you feel your best.
- Sugar-Free Sweetened Condensed Coconut Cream - Acts as a creamy base, providing a rich texture and a hint of natural sweetness. It helps to create a smooth and luscious consistency for the fudgesicles. Coconut cream is rich in healthy fats, particularly medium-chain triglycerides (MCTs), which can provide quick energy and support metabolism. It's also a good source of essential vitamins and minerals like iron, magnesium, and potassium.
- SunButter No Sugar Added Sunflower Seed Butter - Adds a creamy, nutty flavor and helps to thicken the fudgesicle mixture. It also contributes to the overall nutritional profile, making the treat more satiating. Sunflower seed butter is packed with healthy fats, protein, and fiber. It's also rich in vitamin E, an antioxidant that helps protect cells from damage, as well as magnesium, which supports muscle and nerve function.
- Date Syrup - Provides natural sweetness and a rich, caramel-like flavor without the need for refined sugar. It also helps to bind the ingredients together. Date syrup is a natural sweetener made from dates, which are high in fiber, potassium, and antioxidants. It has a lower glycemic index than refined sugar, which helps maintain stable blood sugar levels.
- Unsweetened Cocoa Powder or Cacao Powder - Gives the fudgesicles their chocolatey flavor. Cacao powder, being less processed than cocoa powder, can offer a more intense chocolate taste and additional nutrients. Both cocoa and cacao powder are rich in antioxidants, particularly flavonoids, which can improve heart health and reduce inflammation. They also provide a source of iron, magnesium, and fiber. - Tapioca Syrup - Adds sweetness and helps to create a smooth, creamy texture. It also acts as a binding agent, ensuring that the fudgesicles hold together well. Tapioca syrup is a natural sweetener derived from cassava root. It's a good source of carbohydrates, providing quick energy. It also has a lower glycemic index compared to many other sweeteners.
- Vanilla Extract - Enhances the overall flavor of the fudgesicles by adding a warm, sweet, and complex note that complements the chocolate.
- Vegan Chocolate Chips - When melted and drizzled on top, these chocolate chips add the perfect added crunch to this homemade fudgesicle recipe. I recommend using naturally sweetened chocolate chips like these that use coconut sugar to naturally sweeten the chocolate chips. Use code "NATURALVEGAN" for $10 off!

How To Make Healthy Fudgesicles:
These homemade fudge pops have quickly become one of my favorite treats on a hot day because they are super easy to make, and they taste absolutely delicious.
- Prepare the Base:
- In a medium-sized mixing bowl, combine the sweetened condensed coconut cream, sunflower seed butter, date syrup, unsweetened cocoa powder, tapioca syrup, and vanilla extract.
- Use a whisk or a hand mixer to blend the ingredients until smooth and well combined.
- Fill the Popsicle Mold:
- Pour the fudgesicle mixture into a popsicle mold, filling each mold almost to the top.
- Tap the molds gently on the counter to remove any air bubbles and to ensure the mixture settles evenly.
- Insert Sticks:
- Insert a wooden stick into each mold. If your molds come with a lid, place the lid on top to help hold the sticks in place.
- Freeze:
- Place the molds in the freezer and let the fudgesicles freeze for at least 4-6 hours or until completely solid.
- Unmold and Serve:
- Once the fudgesicles are fully frozen, remove them from the freezer.
- To easily remove the fudgesicles from the molds, run the bottom of the molds under warm water for a few seconds.
- Gently pull on the sticks to release the fudgesicles.
- Top With Chocolate:
- Add the vegan chocolate chips to a microwave-safe small bowl. Place the bowl in the microwave and heat for 30 second intervals, make sure to mix after each interval until silky smooth melted chocolate has been achieved.
- Drizzle the chocolate over the homemade pops. The melted chocolate should freeze almost immediately.
- Enjoy:
- Serve the fudgesicles immediately, or store them in a freezer-safe bag or container for up to two weeks.
Substitutions:
There are a handful of easy and delicious substitutions that can be made to these creamy fudgesicles if needed. Here are some of the most common ones.
- Coconut Milk - If you need to substitute the sugar-free sweetened condensed coconut milk, you can use regular sweetened condensed coconut milk (keep in mind that regular contains refined sugar), or you can use full-fat coconut milk. Full-fat coconut milk will add the perfect creamy texture, however it will not add any sweetness. If you use full-fat coconut milk you may want to use additional date syrup to achieve the perfect sweet flavor.
- Date Syrup - If you can't get your hands on date syrup or need to substitute it for whatever reason, you can use pure maple syrup, coconut sugar, or chicory root syrup. Any plant-based sweetener will work. I recommend using a liquid sweetener, but the others will work as well.
- Nut-Butter - Although I strongly recommend using SunButter because it adds the perfect flavor and creamy texture, you can use nut-butters in its place if needed. Natural peanut butter and Almond butter are great choices.
- Popsicle Mold - If you don't have silicone molds for the homemade fudgesicles, you can use Dixie cups and popsicle sticks to make homemade popsicle molds.
If you have any questions about a particular substitution not listed, leave a comment, and I'll get back to you as quickly as possible!
Homemade Fudgesicle Recipe Variations:
There are a couple of fun ways that you can mix up this recipe the next time you make it. Here are some of my favorite ways to mix up fudge popsicles.
- Low-Fat - If you want to make a low-fat version of these homemade fudgesicles, you can use almond milk, oat milk, or lite coconut milk in place of the sweetened condensed coconut milk. It's important to keep in mind that this will take away some of the creamy texture, and you may see ice crystals form on and in the fudge pops.
- Fudge Bites - If you want to turn these creamy fudgesicles into a bite-sized sweet treat, you can pour the chocolate mixture into an ice cube tray. You can also dip these bites into melted chocolate to give them the perfect chocolate shell.
- Dark Chocolate - If you prefer a rich chocolate flavor, you can use dark cocoa powder or simply use more cacao powder to achieve a dark chocolate flavor.
Equipment Needed to Make Healthy Vegan Fudgesicles:
These homemade fudgesicles are great because they are super easy to make and require only a few pieces of equipment to make.
- Mixing Bowls: For combining the ingredients for the fudge pops and melting chocolate for the top.
- Whisk or Hand Mixer: To blend the ingredients smoothly.
- Measuring Cups and Spoons: These are used to measure the ingredients accurately.
- Popsicle Molds: To shape and freeze the fudgesicles.
- Popsicle Sticks: These are inserted into the molds for easy handling.
- Freezer: To freeze the fudgesicles until solid.
- Warm Water (optional): This is for running the molds under to release the fudgesicles easily.
As always, you can find all my go-to equipment on my Amazon storefront or my affiliate page.
How To Store These Homemade Fudgesicles:
How you store these homemade fudge pops is key to enjoying them as a quick and easy treat all summer long.
- Freeze Until Solid:
- Ensure that your fudgesicles are completely frozen before removing them from the molds. This typically takes about 4-6 hours.
- Remove from Molds:
- Once fully frozen, carefully remove the fudgesicles from the molds. You can run the molds under warm water for a few seconds to make this easier.
- Wrap Individually:
- Wrap each fudgesicle individually in plastic wrap or wax paper. This helps prevent them from sticking together and protects them from freezer burn.
- Store in an Airtight Container:
- Place the individually wrapped fudgesicles in a freezer-safe airtight container or a large zip-top freezer bag. Label the container or bag with the date to keep track of their freshness.
- Freezer Storage:
- Store the container or bag in the coldest part of your freezer. Homemade fudgesicles can be stored this way for up to 2 weeks for the best flavor and texture.
- Serve:
- When you're ready to enjoy a fudgesicle, take it out of the freezer and let it sit at room temperature for a minute or two to soften slightly before unwrapping and serving.
