Create a festive Christmas tree charcuterie board that's both eye-catching and tasty. With fresh fruits, cheeses, and fun dips, it's perfect for holiday parties or family gatherings.
This beautiful Christmas tree charcuterie board is one I plan to make again for this coming Christmas gathering. It is one of my favorites, and it's so easy to make. Arranging colorful fresh fruits, cut cheeses, and olives into a tree shape is so satisfying, and the tater tots at the top of the tree add a playful touch that everyone enjoys.
I make it on Christmas day itself, and it's always the centerpiece of the table. Everyone loves helping themselves to different clusters, and it's a great way to get creative with favorite ingredients while keeping things easy and visually stunning.
Personally, I add more prepped food items around it, like my chocolate Christmas tree cookies, star-shaped almond flour sugar cookies, or candy cane cookies for a sweet touch (you know I have a sweet tooth). And don't forget the drinks, like a cranberry apple cider punch or sparkling cranberry mocktails-all great options to fill out your table in a festive way.

Here's what you need to make this festive appetizer or grazing board, and as always, I'll leave links to my favorite brands so you can try them out too.
- Roots Farm Fresh Tater Tots: Crispy, golden tots for the top of the tree and in between. They're fun, playful, and a hit with kids and adults alike.
- Fresh Fruits: Use purple grapes, blackberries, raspberries, and cherry tomatoes to create vibrant, colorful layers across your charcuterie tree.
- Olives: Mix green and black olives (such as Castelvetrano or Kalamata) for a briny, savory contrast that balances the sweet fruits.
- Mini Cucumbers: Adds crunch and freshness; slice or leave whole depending on your preferred look.
- Fresh Rosemary Sprigs: Form the outline and tree shape with fresh herbs like Rosemary, creating a natural "frame" and adding aroma and visual flair.
- Cheeses: Cut slices of cheddar into Christmas tree shapes and gouda into gingerbread men using a cookie cutter for a playful, festive touch.
- Shelled Nuts: Provide a nutty texture and fill in small gaps for balance. You can even add some of my candied hazelnuts or candied pecans if you have any leftovers.
- Dips & Sauces: Small ramekins of ketchup, hummus, or toum garlic sauce offer interactive dipping options and enhance visual appeal.

Top Tips:
This cheeseboard is so easy to assemble, but I still have a few tips for you.
- Single Layer: Arrange first each ingredient in a single layer within the tree outline, then start filling it up as you go.
- Use Fresh Ingredients: Wash and dry fruits and vegetables thoroughly to prevent moisture from making the board soggy.
- Balance Colors & Textures: Mix bright fruits, dark olives, crunchy nuts, and cheeses for a festive look and a variety of textures. You can even add some microgreens for a pop of extra color.
- Chill Before Serving: Keep cold ingredients like cheeses and dips in the fridge until just before serving to maintain freshness.
- Use Cookie Cutters: For cheeses or soft veggies, small cookie cutters help create fun, festive shapes like stars, trees, or gingerbread men.
Variations And Substitutions:
- Favorite Cheeses: Swap cheddar or gouda for goat cheese, brie, pepper jack, or blue cheese. There are so many vegan alternatives, so pick what you love most or tailor to your guests' preferences.
- Fruit Choices: Use other fruits like pomegranate seeds, strawberries, or kiwi, if preferred.
- Vegetables: Add extra crunch with red peppers, snap peas, or baby carrots.
- Protein Additions: Include vegan chicken pieces, tofu cubes, or tofu wontons, if prepped in advance.
- Dips: Substitute or add vegan ranch, tzatziki, or try my spinach artichoke dip.
Storage:
- Short-Term: Cover with plastic wrap or store in an airtight container in the fridge for up to 24 hours.
- Long-Term Prep: Assemble all components separately and store chilled, then arrange on the board just before serving. Cook the tater tots close to serving time.
- Leftover Ingredients: Any unused fruits, cheeses, or nuts can be stored individually in airtight containers for later use.
Equipment Needed:
- Large Wooden Board or Platter: For creating the tree shape and arranging ingredients.
- Ramekins or Small Bowls: To hold dips like ketchup, hummus, or toum.
- Sharp Knife & Cutting Board: For slicing cheeses, vegetables, or fruits.
- Cookie Cutters (Optional): For shaping cheeses or soft veggies into festive designs like stars or trees.
- Small Spoon or Spatula: To help place spreads or dips neatly in open areas.
Recipe FAQs:
Absolutely. I like to use vegan cheeses, but you can opt for goat cheese, brie, pepper jack, or blue cheese, depending on your preference or dietary needs.
You can use parsley, kale stems, or even long slices of bell pepper to create the tree shape.
Arrange all ingredients in single layers, dry fruits and veggies thoroughly, and add dips just before serving.
