Ingredients To Make This Cherry Chocolate Smoothie:
You only need a few simple ingredients to make this amazing smoothie drink. Cherries already have an impressive amount of nutrients and are rich in antioxidants and anti-inflammatory compounds. They can even boost recovery post-workout. But I'm adding a few of my favorite supplements to add extra plant proteins, natural fiber, and pre and probiotics. It just takes this vegan chocolate cherry smoothie's nutrients up a notch and is a great way to get all your supplements in from the start.
- Frozen cherries: Dark, sweet cherries work best for this recipe, providing a rich cherry flavor and natural sweetness. Using frozen cherries also gives this drink a thick consistency and makes it deliciously refreshing right off the bet. Use any leftovers to make my Vegan Cherry Mango Popsicles.
- Frozen bananas: They add a lovely creamy texture and natural sweetness without the need for any sugar.
- NBPure Plant Protein+ Powder: This powder adds extra protein, making the smoothie more filling and nutritious. It contains all 9 essential amino acids plus branch-chain amino acids from pea protein isolate. I love this brand because it also adds omega-3 fatty acids and nutrients from flax seeds and chia seeds.
- NBPure Daily Multi-Fiber Savory Mocha: I highly recommend adding some to this smoothie because it enhances it with extra fiber to promote digestive health. Plus, it contains pre and probiotics for intestinal health and microbiome support. I love this one in particular because it has that subtle savory mocha flavor that goes so well with cherry and dark chocolate flavors. It mixes well with other smoothies too or just plain cashew milk or my Sunflower Seed Milk.
- Non-dairy milk: Unsweetened almond milk, oat milk, soy milk, or cashew milk all work well.
- Coconut yogurt: Any vegan yogurt will work, but coconut yogurt adds a creamier texture than most. But pick your favorite!
- Optional toppings: You can use vegan whipped cream, cocoa powder, chocolate sauce, or homemade vegan chocolate ganache for an indulgent touch. Any of these choices will satisfy your sweet tooth.

How to Make This High-Fiber Smoothie:
Like all my other smoothies, this vegan chocolate cherry smoothie is easy to make. It takes only 5 minutes to serve this beautiful drink.
- Serve & Enjoy: Add the chocolate sauce or chocolate ganache to the rim of your glasses. Fill halfway up with the cherry chocolate smoothie mixture. Then, divide the coconut yogurt between the glasses before filling them with the remaining smoothie blend to get that beautiful marbled look. Now sit back and enjoy!
- Prepare the Ingredients: Grab all the ingredients, including frozen cherries, frozen bananas, and your choice of plant milk.
- Blend: In a high-speed blender, combine the frozen fruits, NBPure Plant Protein+ Powder, NBPure Daily Multi-Fiber Savory Mocha, and non-dairy milk until smooth and creamy.
- Adjust Consistency: Add more frozen bananas or cherries if you prefer a thicker smoothie. For a thinner smoothie, add a splash of extra non-dairy milk.
Variations and Substitutions:
Here are a few suggestions if you don't have all the ingredients on hand or want to make different variations of this Vegan Chocolate Cherry Smoothie.
Fresh cherries: I highly suggest using frozen bananas and cherries to make this smoothie thick and creamy. But if you have sweet, fresh cherries on hand, you can replace a cup of the frozen with fresh ones or use them as extra toppings. Just make sure to pit the ones you throw in the blender using a cherry pitter!
Vegan Yogurt: If you don't have coconut yogurt, try other vegan yogurts, such as almond, cashew-based, or soy yogurt.
Healthy Add-Ins: I highly recommend NPPure Protein and Multi-Fiber powders. But you can switch it up by adding a tablespoon of almond butter or peanut butter for an extra protein boost and creamy texture. Incorporate a teaspoon of chia, flax, or hemp seeds for added fiber and omega-3 fatty acids.
Top Tips:
Do you want to turn it into a smoothie bowl like my Acai Bowl or High-Protein Vegan Raspberry Smoothie? All you need are Coconut Bowls ("COCO-NV-10" for 10% off your purchase!) to serve! Drizzle some chocolate sauce or vegan chocolate ganache on top. Sprinkle some cocoa or cacao powder and add a dollop of vegan whipped cream topped with cacao nibs for a delicious breakfast or healthy dessert.
Blending Tip: To ensure that all frozen fruits are completely pureed and that no frozen chunks remain, blend on high for at least a full minute to achieve the perfect smooth texture.
What You'll Need To Make This Creamy Smoothie:
Here's the equipment you need to make one of my favorite smoothie recipes:
Tall Glasses: You can serve this smoothie in a glass or a bowl for spooning and adding toppings. But if you go for a glass, I recommend large glasses to fit it all in one cup and enough to serve a healthy, nutritious breakfast that keeps you satisfied at least until noon.
High-Speed Blender: A high-powered blender like a Vitamix is essential for getting a smooth and creamy consistency, especially when blending frozen fruits.
Measuring cups and spoons: To ensure accurate measurements of ingredients.
Long spoons or reusable straws: However you want to serve it, I suggest a straw for sipping or a large spoon to help with brain freeze.
Frequently Asked Questions:
Of course, this chocolate cherry smoothie is best when immediately enjoyed. Because it takes only 5 minutes to make, it really is the easiest thing to prep. However, you can totally store any leftovers in the fridge or freezer without the add-ons or toppings. Use a tightly sealed mason jar or container (or cover your smoothie glass with cling wrap). Stir with a spoon if there is any natural separation.
Yes. Pour the leftover chocolate cherry smoothie into an ice cube tray and freeze it for later use. When ready, simply pop the smoothie cubes into a blender, add a splash of plant milk, and blend until smooth.
Make sure you use sweet cherries instead of tart cherries. Sweet frozen fruits should usually add plenty of sweetness, especially when adding toppings like chocolate sauce or vegan whipped cream. However, you can always add a tad of pure maple syrup if you prefer.
Yes! Simply remove the extra toppings and dust the drinks off with unsweetened cocoa powder or cacao nibs. The frozen fruits add plenty of natural sweetness, while the chocolate-covered rim of the glasses adds a touch of dark chocolate flavor.
