This delicious green alkaline smoothie is the perfect healthy smoothie to boost your overall health. It's full of healthy fats, leafy greens, and delicious fruit. These alkalizing ingredients help support better health and a healthy pH balance.
One of the best ways to start off the day is with a delicious smoothie. I love starting my day off on the right foot with my Strawberry Glaze Smoothie and my Superfood Blue Magic Smoothie. However, as someone who struggles to eat enough leafy greens throughout the day, I wanted to make a green smoothie recipe that was equally as delicious as it is nutritious!

Alkaline Green Smoothie Ingredients:
This breakfast smoothie is great because it is made with simple ingredients that are packed full of health benefits. You can find all of these ingredients at your local grocery store, or on PlantFusion.com.
- Frozen Pineapple - One of the main ingredients of this alkaline smoothie is frozen pineapple. Pineapple adds delicious flavor as well as loads of vitamin C which help support a healthy immune system. An easy way to drink more smoothies is by making them taste good. Therefore making the base of the smoothie out of delicious sweet fruit is the way to go.
- Frozen Banana - I love adding a little bit of frozen banana to any smoothie to add creaminess and sweetness. Bananas are great for helping to keep you full and satisfied.
- Fresh Kiwi - A common ingredient in alkaline smoothie recipes is kiwi and for good reason. Kiwi contains high levels of vitamin C, are an excellent source of antioxidants, and help aid in digestion. Not only are kiwis extremely healthy, but they are also delicious!
- Macadamia Nut Butter - I love adding nut butter to my smoothies to help make them more filling and satiating. My go-to right now is Wilderness Poet's Macadamia SPiN Nut Butter. I absolutely love this nut butter. It is nice and runny which makes it great for smoothies, it's naturally sweetened with their maple crystals, and it's all organic. - PlantFusion Alkalizing Greens - I love this alkaline greens powder. It is one of PlantFusion's new products, and I recommend it to everyone. It is filled with a variety of organic greens such as spirulina, chlorella & fermented barley grass, alfalfa grass, wheat grass, oat grass, kale, carrot, broccoli, spinach & dulse leaf, and more! In addition to the greens, fruits & veggies in this greens powder, this mix also contains a digestive blend of enzymes, probiotics, fiber & chia seeds. This greens blend is one of the best alkalizing greens powders out there because it has been shown to increase pH to optimal levels in just 3 weeks! If you're interested in giving this greens powder a go, you can use my code: "NATURALVEGAN" for 25% off!
- Coconut Milk - Any plant-based milk will work for this smoothie. Almond milk is another great option. You can also use coconut water to add electrolytes to this healthy smoothie recipe.
- Coconut Yogurt - Any vegan yogurt will work perfectly. I like using coconut yogurt because the taste is more neutral. Make sure to use a yogurt with live active cultures for added probiotics.
See the recipe card for quantities.
How To Make This Vegan Alkaline Smoothie:
This alkaline smoothie recipe is great because it's as easy to make as any other smoothie recipe.
1. Begin by combining all ingredients except the coconut yogurt together in a high speed blender. Blend on high for about a minute, or until silky smooth.
2. Pour half the smoothie into a tall glass. When the smoothie fills half the glass, scoop the coconut yogurt out and place it on top of the smoothie. Make a ½-inch to 1-inch layer. Sprinkle a small amount of the green powder on top of the yogurt and top with the remaining smoothie. Serve and enjoy!
Hint: The skin of the kiwi is completely edible and full of health benefits. I love just adding the entire washed kiwi into my smoothies!
Substitutions:
There are a couple of substitutions that can be made to this vegan green smoothie if needed. Here are some common ones.
- Greens - If you can't get your hands on the alkalizing greens powder you can add simple greens to this smoothie. Collard greens, kale, and baby spinach are all alkalizing greens. I personally prefer the powder because the smoothie turns out way smoother and it doesn't have as earthy of a taste.
- Fruit - If you need to use different fruits for this smoothie due to an allergy, or preference that's totally okay. I recommend lime juice and orange juice if replacing the kiwi, and mango if you're replacing either the banana or pineapple.
- Nut Butter - Any type of nut butter will work great for this recipe. I went with macadamia nut butter because I think the flavor complements this alkaline smoothie perfectly, however, your favorite nut butter will work perfectly. Almond butter and pistachio butter are great options. When choosing a nut butter it is important to make sure that it is made with simple and clean ingredients.
If you have any questions about a particular substitution not listed make sure to leave a comment and I'll get back to you as quickly as possible!
Alkaline Smoothie Variations:
There are so many fun and delicious variations of this smoothie you can make. Here are some of my favorite ways to mix it up!
- High Protein - Add a scoop of vanilla PlantFusion protein powder to make this smoothie more filling. You can also add hemp seeds, chia seeds, or flax seeds to add additional protein and fiber.
- Ginger - I love adding a small piece of ginger root to this smoothie to give it an added kick. Ginger root is great for weight loss or for anyone struggling with acid reflux as well.
- Green Vegetables - A great way to lower the calorie density of this green smoothie while increasing the volume is to add frozen green vegetables. I love adding frozen zucchini, cauliflower, etc. You can't even taste it!
What You Will Need To Make This Green Smoothie Recipe:
Equipment can always impact how a recipe turns out. Here's what I recommend using for this alkaline smoothie recipe.
- High Speed Blender - I recommend using a high-speed blender like a Vitamix blender for this recipe. You can use any blender, however a high speed blender is a great way to achieve the perfect smooth and creamy texture.
- Tall Glass - This smoothie makes a lot. Therefore it is a great healthy breakfast because it will keep you full all day long. I recommend using a large glass to serve this smoothie so that you can fit it all in one cup.
As always you can find all my go-to equipment on my Amazon storefront or my affiliate page.
How To Store This Alkaline Smoothie:
Storing smoothies for an extended period of time is generally not something I recommend. However, if you have a leftover smoothie, you can pour it into an ice cube tray and freeze it for later use. Whenever you are ready, simply pop the smoothie cubes into a blender, add a splash of coconut milk, and blend until smooth.
If you just plan to store it for an hour or two, it will be okay in the fridge or freezer. Whenever you are ready to enjoy it give it a good mix. It is normal for the smoothie to separate slightly when it is sitting out for an extended period of time.
Top Tip:
It's hard to overblend a smoothie, but it's very easy to underblend a smoothie. I recommend blending this smoothie on high for a full minute at least to achieve the perfect smooth and creamy texture.
