Sea Moss Smoothie Ingredients:
There is probably nothing in this list that you don't already have on hand. But everything can be easily bought at your local grocery store. You only need a handful of ingredients and for the raw sea moss, use my discount code and purchase it online.
- Strawberries: Use frozen once to add a refreshing touch. This fruit is also packed with antioxidants, delicious, and beneficial for mental health. Get a big bag so you can make my Frozen Strawberry Margarita Mocktail.
- Banana: A ripe banana acts as a natural sweetener, adding creaminess and potassium. This fruit also helps balance your appetite.
- Raw cashew butter: It's a great source of healthy fats and protein and adds a touch of richness to this sea moss smoothie.
- Medjool dates: They add a caramel-like sweetness and are a great alternative to refined sugars. Use leftovers to make my Vegan Mixed Berry Tart or No Bake Passion Fruit Mango Cheesecake Bars.
- Coconut milk: I use it to add a rich, creamy base while enhancing the tropical flavors of this nutritious drink. You can use the rest to make the custard filling in my Vegan Coconut Banana Cream Pie or bake my Matcha Coconut Cupcakes.
- Herbal Vineyards sea moss gel: This sea moss gel is loaded with trace minerals and boosts and supports a healthy immune system. It has tons of health benefits and is a nutritious way to add to your morning smoothie. And I promise, no taste of the sea moss here, only a delicious hint of strawberry flavor.
- Coconut yogurt: Adds a probiotic-rich component that promotes gut health and enhances the creamy texture. Plus, it will give this smoothie a pretty look like in my Superfood Moringa Smoothie.
- Fresh banana: I am slicing a few for layering and added texture.
See the recipe card for quantities.
How to Make It:
It's super easy to make this sea moss smoothie.
- Garther & Blend: Blend all the ingredients except the coconut yogurt and ½ banana into a blender until silky smooth.
- Serve & Garnish: Add the coconut yogurt to the bottom of a tall glass. Top with slices of the remaining banana for added flavor and presentation. Pour the sea moss smoothie blend over the yogurt layer and serve immediately.
Top Tip:
Try adding a few ice cubes when blending your smoothie for a refreshing touch during warmer seasons. Or better, use frozen strawberries and only frozen bananas to make it more of a healthy slushy.
Substitutions:
Here are a few substitutions I can recommend.
- Instead of raw cashew butter: Use any nut butter of your choice. Just know that peanut butter will have a more overpowering taste than any other nut butter.
- Instead of coconut milk: If you’re not a fan of coconut milk, try almond milk, hemp milk, or even coconut water for a lighter option. Walnut milk can also work.
- Instead of strawberries: Consider using other berries, like blueberries or blackberries, or a blend of mixed berries.
Sea Moss Smoothie Variations:
- For added sweetness: Drizzle in a bit of maple syrup or raw blue agave nectar if you really want it sweeter.
- For additional health benefits: Consider adding chia seeds or a splash of green tea for an extra antioxidant boost or some alkalizing super greens powder left from making my Delicious Alkaline Green Juice.
Storage:
This smoothie is best enjoyed fresh, but leftovers can be stored in an airtight container in the fridge for up to 24 hours. Give it a quick stir or shake before consuming, as separation may occur.
Equipment Needed:
- High-Powered Blender: A high-speed blender is recommended to give it a silky texture.
- Measuring Spoons and Cups: For precise measurements of the ingredients.
- Spoon: To layer the coconut yogurt in the glass.
- Tall Glasses: Choose a tall glass for serving to show off its amazing color and a beautiful bottom layer of this sea moss smoothie.
- Knife: To slice the banana.
