Keep your body in optimal health with this homemade liver cleansing and digestive-friendly detox juice. This quick and easy-to-make drink is the perfect addition to a healthy lifestyle. It gives your liver, which is responsible for detoxifying harmful substances, all the help it needs with a dose of freshly juiced healthy foods that leave you feeling energized.
I regularly incorporate fresh juices into my diet, especially after a vacation or when I need a little boost for my overall health. There's my Women's Green Juice (for bloating) and my Alkaline Green Juice that I enjoy occasionally to help my digestive tract and allow my body to detox and improve my energy levels.
This liver cleansing juice is no different, but I carefully crafted the ingredients of fruit and vegetables that give extra support to the liver whenever you feel you need it. Some great foods to help cleanse and support liver function include leafy greens like spinach, beets, and citrus fruits like lemon. These are combined with super hydrating and digestive-friendly fruits and veggies that also balance any bitter taste from the greens and make this juice incredibly delicious to enjoy!
It's also a great way to start your day or use it on a detox diet. Let's juice!

Ingredients To Make This Healthy Liver Detox Juice:
For this liver cleanse, I urge you to use high-quality ingredients; thus, go for organic produce when you can. Especially for the fruits and veggies that do not have thick skin.
- Beets: They are high in antioxidants that help protect liver cells and reduce oxidative damage. Beetroot juice is not only a great purifier and has liver detoxifying properties but also promotes skin health and improves blood flow among other health benefits. I peel them for juicing but feel free to rinse and scrub until clean instead. Buy some extra to also make my sweet and satisfying Kale Beet Juice.
- Leafy Greens (Spinach): Packed with dietary fiber and powerful antioxidants, spinach is a liver superfood. It helps improve the liver’s detoxification pathways and remove heavy metals from the body. Wash the leaves thoroughly to remove all dirt and grit.
- Green Apple: Rich in antioxidants, vitamin C, and dietary fiber, they support liver health and promote better digestion. They also add a delicious natural sweetness to this liver detoxification drink, like in my Collard Mint Green Juice.
- Lemon: Lemon is one of the best fruits for liver health. Lemon juice is not only a good source of vitamins, especially C, but it also stimulates and enhances liver enzymes that benefit your liver’s functioning. It also adds a refreshing flavor to this beet juice.
- Tomato: It adds additional antioxidants and stimulates the liver by removing body wastes.
- Celery, Cucumber, and Carrots: Nothing helps flush out toxins and improve digestion like fresh produce with a high water content, like my Cucumber Mint Juice. These healthy additional ingredients also provide essential nutrients that support the overall health of the liver.

How to Make This Juice Cleanse:
Juicing for the liver is just as easy as juicing for anything else. It's as easy as gathering and prepping the ingredients. Then juice and enjoy!
- Prep the Ingredients: Wash all your produce thoroughly to remove any dirt. Peel the lemon and beets to reduce bitterness and improve flavor. Cut the cucumber, tomato, carrots, celery, beets, and apples into small pieces that fit into your juicer’s hopper.
- Juicing Process: Start with the leafy greens, followed by the cucumber and celery to help flush any remaining spinach in the juicer. Then juice the firmer produce like the carrots, beets, and apples. Lastly, add the lemon and tomato to add acidity, extra mild sweetness, and nutrients.
- Enjoy: Stir to combine the flavors and enjoy.
Top Tips:
Here are a few tips on enjoying this liver detox juice and getting the maximum health benefits.
- Drink on an Empty Stomach: It's best to drink this juice first thing in the morning before consuming any solid foods to support the liver’s natural detox processes.
- Add Lemon Water: For an extra detoxifying boost, follow your juice with a glass of warm lemon water or enjoy your favorite liver detox tea or organic unsweetened green tea
- Drink Plenty of Water Throughout the Day: Drinking plenty of water is an excellent way to help your body get rid of toxins and improves your energy. It's the best way to support your morning juice and is so simple to do.
Liver Detox Juice Variations and Substitutions:
Although I carefully selected the ingredients for nutritional support and balance of flavor, you can adjust based on taste or substitute with what you can find seasonally or what you have left in your fridge. Here are some of my recommendations without altering this juice too much.
- Swap Spinach for Other Greens: Kale or dandelion greens are other terrific options to help improve liver detox pathways. Just know that these greens are more bitter, so you might want to add more apples or lemons to balance it out. Use any leftovers in my Dandelion Green Detox Juice.
- Swap Lemon for Other Citrus Fruits: Try grapefruit, which also has powerful liver-cleansing benefits.
- Make it Sweeter: If you prefer your liver cleanse juice sweeter, you can always add an orange or a splash of fresh orange juice.
- Add Turmeric: For added anti-inflammatory benefits, consider adding a pinch of turmeric to your juice.
Equipment Needed To Make This Fresh Juice:
The equipment can significantly impact the quality of your juice. So here are my top recommendations.
- Cold Pressed Slow Juicer: I recommend Kuving's because they make the best juicers in my opinion, which in turn makes the best juice! I've mentioned why I love their juicers so many times on the blog, like when making my Cold Pressed Mango Juice or Tropical Fruit Punch Juice. It's easy to clean, easy to juice, and the quality is unparalleled to any other juicers I have tried. And believe me, I've tried many. For the past year, I have been using the AUTO10 juicer and I am just as obsessed with it today as I was the day I got it. Its great because it is completely hands-free so it saves times and is easy-to-use. If you're interested in investing in a Kuving's Juicer, you can always use my code: "NATURALVEGAN" for 10% off (AKA $70 off the AUTO10) at Kuvings.com. It's one of the best kitchen investments I've ever made!
- Cutting Board and Knife: To prepare the produce for juicing.
- Airtight Container: If storing the juice for later.
Recipe FAQ's:
It's best to serve immediately for maximum health benefits, but you can store this juice in an airtight container in the fridge for up to 72 hours thanks to the cold-pressed technology of the Kuving's AUTO10.
Yes, this juice can be a part of your daily routine and is packed with nutrients that support a healthier liver. However, always consult your doctor or health expert if you’re unsure or are managing certain health conditions, food allergies or have dietary restrictions.
I'm not promoting any weight loss solution with this liver cleanse. Instead, the ingredients of this juice can have beneficial effects on removing your body's daily toxins. It is also packed with nutrients and dietary fiber, is low in calories, and supports proper digestion, which, of course, all help with a healthy lifestyle.
A slow juicer is recommended, especially if you plan to incorporate more juices into your healthy lifestyle routine. However, you can also use a high-speed blender and extract the juice using a nut milk bag.
