This whole foods plant based vegan creamy tomato soup recipe is loaded with healthy ingredients and is incredibly east to make! I am all about simple vegan recipes, and this plant based tomato soup recipe is one of my go-to healthy easy soup recipes.

What Makes This The Best Vegan Creamy Tomato Soup:

Fun fact: when I was little tomato soup was one of my favorite foods. I frequently made the canned Campbells soup and a grilled cheese. Honestly, I can still taste this meal from my childhood.

However, since going vegan I stopped eating tomato soup for awhile.I always assume it's not vegan whenever I see it. It wasn't until recently when I started developing this vegan creamy tomato soup recipe I realized how simple and delicious plant based tomato soup can be!

It took a couple rounds of developing, but I truly believe that this is the best vegan tomato soup recipe! I make it weekly (not exaggerating). This vegan soup recipe is the best, because it is: budget friendly, healthy, and only takes about 5 minutes of hands on cooking!

Recipes that check all these boxes will forever be my favorites. I love cooking about 90% of the time. Therefore when I can find healthy recipes that require little cooking, I'm game!

How To Make Healthy Recipes If You Hate Cooking:

What makes this vegan creamy tomato soup so easy? It's simple: canned goods! I know that not everyone is a fan of canned goods, and I totally get it, but when you're not in the mood to cook, they can be a lifesaver! There is definitely health benefits to choosing fresh produce over canned goods, but sometimes that option is just not feasible.

With that said, you can make this vegan tomato soup recipe as is, or you can make it with fresh tomatoes. If you hate cooking, making this recipe with canned goods (see recipe card for instructions) can be a game changer. It's the perfect easy recipe that is loaded with vegetables, and doesn't require hands on cooking.

Finding recipes like this is the best way to eat healthy if you don't like cooking. To make it with canned goods, simply follow recipe instructions. If you do go this route, make sure that you choose unsalted and BPA free canned goods.

These ingredients may be slightly more expensive. However this is crucial for your long term health!

How To Make Low-Fat Creamy Vegan Tomato Soup:

There's actually two ways to make this vegan creamy tomato soup, and both are fabulous! You can make this creamy vegan tomato soup using a low fat option, or a high fat option. Both are still healthy and delicious.

It is totally up to you which option you go with. You can use full fat coconut milk, or lite coconut milk. I usually go with lite simply because I am a volume eater, and I just find that it works better for me to eat a low fat diet.

If you're not a fan of coconut, or have a nut allergy, you can use any other plant based milks to make this soup creamy. I would recommend using a higher fat milk like soy (make sure it's unflavored) to achieve the right creaminess.

You can honestly use any plant based milk such as almond mil and it will still come out creamy and delicious. Just make sure that you are using plain almond milk and not vanilla. Like I said before, it's up to you, because that's who these recipes are made for!

This creamy vegan tomato soup recipe is delicious, but it also happens to be a WFPB Tomato soup recipe. I find that there's a lot of creamy vegan tomato soup recipes and even plant based tomato soup recipes that claim to be healthy, but are loaded with butters and oils.

If you're searching for a plant based tomato soup recipe that is healthy, then I got you! This recipe is made with super simple ingredients that aren't refined at all. I love eating minimally processed meals like this soup, because I feel great afterwards, and still enjoy my food!

If you're interested in eating a plant based vegan diet, or simply just looking to incorporate more plant based recipes into your diet, then feel free to check out my other recipes! I am always creating new healthy whole foods plant based recipes that are loaded with healthy ingredients just like this soup recipe.

How To Make This Plant Based Tomato Soup:

This Vegan Creamy Tomato Soup is almost too easy. I really debated on if I should share this recipe to my website, or not. However I make it so often, that I figured my website wouldn't be complete without it.

Since this recipe uses canned ingredients and dried herbs, it takes about 5 minutes to prepare, and 30 minutes to cook. This is perfect if you don't love cooking, or want a soup that is not hands on.

To make this plant based Tomato Soup, simply mince the garlic and add to a large pot with the whole wheat flour and a splash of coconut milk. Cook until there are no clumps of flour.

Next, add the remaining coconut milk, canned tomato puree, canned tomato paste, vegetable broth, canned diced tomatoes, rosemary, Italian seasoning, dried or fresh basil, and onion powder. Cook on medium heat for 30 minutes.

Serve with bread and enjoy!

Substitutions:

There are a variety of easy and quick substitutions that can be made to this creamy vegan tomato soup. Here are some of the common ones I get asked about.

  • Roasted Tomatoes - You can add roasted tomatoes for a stronger flavor and fresher ingredients. I love making these Air Fryer Roasted Tomatoes when I use fresh tomatoes.
  • Milk - You can substitute coconut milk with any plant-based milk of choice. Almond milk and soy milk are great options.

I just LOVE how easy to make this soup was and how delicious it turned out! So true that a lot of recipes that claim to be healthy actually aren't, using tons of oil, butter, sugar and I'm like "???". This recipe is definitely my go-to soup recipe now as I'm trying to eat as healthy as I can!
